Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the Purdue Off-Road Club's home on the web.

The Purdue Off-Road Club (PORC) provides a community for any and all Purdue University students, faculty, staff, and alumni who enjoy the sport of "off roading." Our organization educates members on techniques and fundamentals of operating a vehicle off road, as well as various tasks on repairing and upgrading four wheel drive machines. We host various events that bring the members together to cooperate as a group such as riding trails and repairing/upgrading vehicles. Our members own a variety of vehicles from the Jeep Wrangler TJ, YJ, & CJ to Hummers, Stock & Lifted Trucks, Scouts, Dirtbikes, and Four Wheelers. Stock Vehicles are always welcome! Some members don't even own an off-road vehicle or have never experienced the sport of Four Wheel Drive before! We want everyone to be able to enjoy the sport.

The Purdue Off-Road Club promotes the "Tread Lightly!" motto, which basically teaches drivers to have respect for our Planet Earth, and to leave her as close to how we found her. Our club and our members also receive the benefit of full membership into the United Four-Wheel Drive Association as well as the Indiana Four-Wheel Drive Association.

To learn more about our organization, visit the about us page. For more information on how to join, look at our membership information.

If you're not affiliated with Purdue University and can not become an actual member, please join us on our Forums which we actively participate in and would love to see you join us there as well.

...and as always - Hail Purdue!

PORC Trip Spring Break 2008 - Harlan, KY
Posted by Bear on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 (20:49:53) (272 reads)

Spring Break 2008 - Harlan, KY

The PORC'ers are heading back to the land of bluegrass and moonshine for another week of wheeling and 'round-the-campfire shenanigans.

The Black Mountain Off Road Park in historic Harlan is massive and can provide weeks of all-you-can-eat buffet-style abuse for all tastes (but seems to cater to the gluttons for punishment ).

We are leaving on Sunday, March 9th and returning Friday, March 14th.

THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL PORC FUNCTION

This trip is open to all club members. However, Harlan is about 400 miles from here and you will have to trailer your rig there. Vehicles may be subject to a technical inspection prior to the trip. Both rules are to avoid logistical nightmares that might stem from having a massively broken rig in the middle of BFE.

Financial requirements:
-$100 (approx) per person for a six man cabin or camp for about $60-$90 for the week (all group accommodations are now complete and at this time there are no openings in the 3 units we have reserved)
-$50 food and drink at camp and trail
-$40 travel gas/food/drink
-$150 gas (you know your rig, maybe more or less than this)
-$300 spare for parts (doesn't have to be cash, but you need to be able to have this if you break)

Vehicle and Personal Requirement Discussion

Please Contact an Officer if you have any questions.
