Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the Purdue Off-Road Club's home on the web.

The Purdue Off-Road Club (PORC) provides a community for any and all Purdue University students, faculty, staff, and alumni who enjoy the sport of "off roading." Our organization educates members on techniques and fundamentals of operating a vehicle off road, as well as various tasks on repairing and upgrading four wheel drive machines. We host various events that bring the members together to cooperate as a group such as riding trails and repairing/upgrading vehicles. Our members own a variety of vehicles from the Jeep Wrangler TJ, YJ, & CJ to Hummers, Stock & Lifted Trucks, Scouts, Dirtbikes, and Four Wheelers. Stock Vehicles are always welcome! Some members don't even own an off-road vehicle or have never experienced the sport of Four Wheel Drive before! We want everyone to be able to enjoy the sport.

The Purdue Off-Road Club promotes the "Tread Lightly!" motto, which basically teaches drivers to have respect for our Planet Earth, and to leave her as close to how we found her. Our club and our members also receive the benefit of full membership into the United Four-Wheel Drive Association as well as the Indiana Four-Wheel Drive Association.

To learn more about our organization, visit the about us page. For more information on how to join, look at our membership information.

If you're not affiliated with Purdue University and can not become an actual member, please join us on our Forums which we actively participate in and would love to see you join us there as well.

...and as always - Hail Purdue!

Callout UPDATE! PORC Callout 8 Sept 2011
Posted by 97jeepdriver on Thursday, September 08, 2011 (03:51:31) (114 reads)

If you are interested in PORC, what we are all about, up coming events, or anything off-road, come out and visit with us. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Membership forms will be available. Callout is 7pm in PHYS110.

A couple things to keep in mind: You do not need a vehicle to join, if there are open seats on trips we try to invite anyone who doesn't have a vehicle. Quads and dirtbikes are welcome too, most of us with trucks/Jeeps have had or still own a dirtbike or quad. Stock vehicles are always welcomed.

Another item: since we are a Purdue affiliated club, all paying members must be a student, alumni or staff of Purdue. If you are not one of those you can't officially join PORC. We would encourage those not eligible to still join our website and participate in discussions.

Also, there is a TREC race this weekend at the Badlands. If you've never been to a TREC race, it is worth coming to watch! It's as much of a desert race as Indiana allows, mixed with very fast wooded trail racing. Every kind of vehicle is there from side by side quads to street legal Jeeps to full on tube chassis buggies. Details are at trecwithus.com.

As always, post up with questions or message me.
