does your warranty cover it? or are you gonna have to chuck up some money for a new one?

They're saying its muddy so its a violation of warrenty or some such bull... I think Rachel's going to give them an earful tomorrow, but, its always good to have a backup plan. Since nobody's got 2004 parts in stock (except NAPA....possibly..) will the alternator for an 01 or 02 or something work as well?

definately give em an earful.... we did the same thing once, took an alternator in for replacement and they said at first we couldn't get a new one...... but we talked them into giving it to us..... but they "weren't going to do it again"..... but what is the likelyhood of losing an alternator twice anyhow.....

well and its just like the dude changed his story! He said we can't cover it cause the alternator is muddy. I said no it's not. He said how do you know? I said cause I looked at it before I brought it to you. He said well there appears to be moisture on the inside. Then he said, but dont worry we'll fix it for you and you can get it tomorrow. I said how much. He said $520. Shocked I said DONT TOUCH IT PLEASE! So they're chargin the battery over night and im gonna go get it tomorrow and hope the battery holds the charge long enough to drive it to ken's garage, which I'm thinkin it should? So yeah thats the story. Sad

everywhere I've looked only has alternators for up to 2000 for the 4.0 so I'm guessin that they changed the mounting brackets and they haven't started makin em yet for some reason.

Oh yea also ask them if washing your jeep or driving in the rain would void the warranty because that would make there be moisture in the alternator Twisted Evil GIVE EM HELL

Little does rachel know... the "battery charging" will cost $100 form the stealership

b**** that little pimply headed freak behind the counter out.. Jeep is a BIG corporation they can aafford it trust me... "TRAIL RATED MY ASS" Oh yeah... mention the lemon law to them.. that might get the wheels greased a little not to mention how much problems you've had with it

yeah, the lemon law is pretty shady...... they say its out there like you could actually get a new vehicle if you keep having problems.... but the durango i had got three new transmissions and two new radiators before 20k miles...... And it still didn't qualify for the lemon law..... And even if it did you have to "sue" the company to enact the process to get it replaced......
so the lemon law pretty much won't help ya out...... basically just a pr thing from my understanding
