So I went to the YMCA out in lafayette last night like normal and my jeep was runnin just fine. I came out, got like a mile down the road and....CRUNCH SCRAPE BANG... more CRUNCHING. Well I pulled over for obvious reasons and started walkin back to the Y cause it was the nearest place to make a call cause of course it was the one time I did not opt to bring my cell phone. GO FREAKIN FIGURE!!!!! First I stopped at the high school though cause there was a cop car in front of it and I thought he could help me. He was nowhere to be found though. But dont worry cause if I was goin five miles over the freakin speed limit hed be right there with a helping hand! So I get there, freazin cause I'm in my gym shorts, and start tryin to think of someone who has a number in the phone book and beg them not to kick me out till my ride got there cause they were about to close. So Jess from work comes to get me and since I cant leave my jeep in the fire lane I decided to try and drive it a couple blocks to Mandys house. Well it made it right into the middle of the intersection to block traffic and crapped out. So I rolled it back into the fire lane and Jess drove me home.
So Ken and I went back out there to try and move it to a place where it wouldn't be towed. We put it in four high and it drove like three miles an hour back to the Y lot making unhappy noises all the way. So its chillin at the Y. I totally learned stuff though...like you should not be able to turn the rear drive shaft as much as you can mine and that its either the axle or the transfer case chain, least I think thats what it was. So yeah, it was a great night and always carry your cell phone!

Damn that sucks! If it was just the rear end you shouldn't have been able to turn the rear dshaft that freely.
If you can, see if you still have fluid in the transfer case. If you lost that seal ( i think it's the one for the speedo but can't remember) and all the fluid came out, I would lean even further to the problem being in the xfercase. 3/8" hex to take the fill/drain plugs out.

It was in neutral, felt exactly like my driveshaft did when I basically stripped a spider gear, munched both pinion bearings, and both carrier bearings. Think about it: in gear,it didn't turn much, in neutral, it turns. I suppose we'll find out as soon as we tear in to it, but I really think its the rear.

i think you have axle shaft problems agian or there is problem with the spidergears or the ring and pinion. I am going to say that the ring and pinion are good and that you destroyed another axle shaft. Time to upgrade to a super 35 kit.

I would like to know what the root of the problem is... What was the axle shaft problem from before? I popped a carrier in two right down the centerpin center line when turning a corner on a flat street once... Never did find the source of that problem, let us know when you find out!!
