The exhaust is missing a hanger or two so the exhaust goes into fart can rice mode occasionally.

It no longer sounds like a ricer. It now has a low (slightly audible at low rpms) rumble at idle but other than that it quieted the car down ALOT.
It sounded like a ricer's dream before. Whenever I'd pull up to the PORC house everyone would know it was me.... I pulled up to the shop one day and JOSH STEPS OUT OF THE HOUSE AND SAYS, "I thought I heard something."!!! That's how loud it was.
A tip for ricers to get a low-rumbly-loud: drill holes at all the seams (in the cavvy's case no holes were necessary due to rust) and cut a 8"x4" "[" into the bottom, opening it up wide open. Don't know how to explain that one, no rust. I guess it just cracked and exploded. It sounded exactly what ricer's pay money for, ask brandt.
I took some pics to prove that I'm not being a total bum this summer and my brother got a new camera.
-The old muffler cut off w/ HF welding blanket (on sale for 15.99 8'x6'!) in place to keep spatter outta the gas tank, brake lines, etc.
-My shop. You can see the crack in the ricecan.
-A pic of what tuffy (PO kept all receipts) calls a weld.

So yesterday I drove into town to find a new muffler.
Vatozon: 82 or 32 and it wouldn't be here until the 26th and the only generic they had was a cherry bomb...uhh, no.
Advanced: 81 but it would take a few days. So i walked over to the exhaust section w/ various adapters, reducers, and generic mufflers! So I found one that was about the right size except the inlet was too big. 2.5" OD well mine was 2" OD pipe so... I tried to find an adapter that would fit over or in 2.5 and do the same for 2" on the other side. No dice. I ended up buying a 2.25 straight coupler and 2" ID straight Coupler and welded them together, to make my own reducer. Welded all of that inside the exhaust inlet (reducer and complete setup pictured below).
What about the tailpipe...s***. I didn't buy a tailpipe. I sawzalled the old tailpipe where it wasnt rusty, ground clean and welded it to the exit.
* 2 couplers welded together to make reducer.
* The whole shebang. It was a bit too blingy with the polished finish so I painted it with some old high temp semigloss we had laying around (it'll probably fall off anyway).
*Done. See my sweet hanger? The old one was booger welded to the sheetmetal of the exhaust body. I don't know how long it held but it was torn off and the muffler was drooping when I got it. SO, I cut the old mount in half. Bent and welded a piece of rebar I had laying around. Hey, it works and it's done .

Note: it's not easy welding exhaust stuff w/ an 80 am flux core pos on a 50' extension cord. Last night as I was about to burn it all together, I ran out of wire. So I went to HF to pick up some more wire and came back with a $50 autodarkening helmet (that place is killing me). It's pretty sweet though. Adjusts from 9-13 with an easy dial. My welder is hot when the welders on (even when the trigger isn't pulled) add to this the fact that I stripped down the nozzle to the tip (lets me get closer...this thing needs all the help it can get) and I got flashed pretty often before not even once w/this thing.
Also: If you're piecing together an exhaust you don't really need a perfect fit as I found out w/ the tailpipe. The tailpipe that I scavenged from the old muffler was about 1/4" smaller OD (in diam) than the outlet of the new blingcan. After cutting the old tailpipe off and cleaning it up a bit w/ a grinder, I stuck it in so there was about an 1" of overlap and tacked it GOOD in two places. Since the metal is thin (and s*** exhaust pipe) it was easy to hammer the outer pipe onto the inner for a tight fit. Follow this up with a good bead and it won't leak or fall off.
Total cost: $25 and change
-Couplers (2)- ~$4
-Thrush Turbo 18x4 oval polished muffler $19.88
Additional goodies bought in the course of this project:
-HF sawzall (i like it ) variable speed w/ 1yr warranty: ~$25
-HF welding blanket 8x6 $15.99
-HF auto darkening helmet 49.99
-flux core $15

Hate to tell you this, but some of us spent real money on a real auto darkening welding helmet, because we value our vision...somthing thats ill replaceable. but...that $10,000 eye surgery im sure will pay for that $10 welding helmet.
