I think the TV cable is a bit too tight (i'm sure it is) but everything seems to be working right now....

The speed sensor was because the abs module wasn't plugged in... Signal runs through it from the speed sensor and then to the computer and I had unplugged it when working under the hood a while back... go figure...

Thinking about running up to Bundy Hill this weekend to test it out and check out the park... Anybody want to join?

It's about 1.5hrs. north of me in MI and I hear it's descent...

She was smooth with the speedo reading 65...

Now to tear the front end out of it...

No death wobble.... It's actually amazingly smooth....

But... The reason I put the driveshaft into the tranny last time was because the axle was centered under the rig... If I offset it then it doesn't hit but then the coils have issues....

So... I'm going to try a longer/flatter panhard which should help keep the axle from moving so much side to side... It might induce a little bump steer but it shouldn't be much since I can't really change the angle much anyhow...

Nothing yet... I have a vision in my head of a killer dimple-died, boxed in, fabricated crossmember but haven't cut any steel yet... Just been to busy with everything else lately to even work in the shop...

This weekend I should get something done though, even if it is just cleaning the shop...

Yep... Nate joined me and we went up there the weekend before that race. I called and asked them if they had a problem with me driving fast around the park and they said "as long as you maintain the speed limit on the access roads we don't mind".

I don't think they were expecting me to actually be able to do 50mph through their park though...

We got there around noon and I made it clear I was planning on hauling a$$ through their park. They had heard about TREC and thought it was cool though so they didn't mind me doing some testing there...

We unloaded amidst many stockish wheelers and didn't have a clue where we were going to go once unloaded... We attracted a couple of non-stock rigs though who rolled up as we were unloading and said "finally, somebody who actually wheels!"

We tooled around the park with those guys for a couple hours just checking the place out. We didn't really run into anything difficult but it was some pretty cool winding trails through the woods/quarry. There was a pretty weird trail that was a crevice about 2 trucks wide at the bottom that had a bunch of huge earth mover tires half burried in it... It looked pretty challenging by the trouble some pretty well built rigs were having, I knew better than to try it on 35s.

We broke off and started speeding up through the park since we'd identified all the "access roads." We were looking for some tougher trails and found this area in the back where a lot of people were playin around. Saw a JK come off half way though this trail called "Full Tilt." A lot of people were gathered around the trail kinda like purgatory at the badlands when people are on it... Figured we should try it out being the lone "beater" rig out there... It starts off with a short zig zag through some trees and then a straight shot over a really soft sand hill climb. I smashed the throttle going over that climb and that got everyone's attention... Went through the rest of the trail really leaning side to side and rubbing some trees pretty hard on the roof but we made it. Pretty hairy trail if you're okay with body damage...

We ran by what they called a rock crawl but it was kinda laughable...

Got towards the end of the day and the park was pretty well cleared out so we really opened the throttle up. Found a fun little road that had some various terrain and some good turns and bumps. No signage to say any of it was speed limited so we were running it back and forth getting up to 40-50mph. Took a couple of the guys we were running with earlier in the day for a spin as well. Finally we're about ready to leave and I asked nate if he wants to take it on a lap. He did so like a little school girl.

We bring it back and line it up with the trailer and this white stock suv rolls up with a little orange led light flashing in his window... Kid around 18 rolls down the driver window and asks if we're leaving. I tell him yes. He says "That's good, because you can't be driving like that around here." I told him I had asked the people in the office and they were okay with it. He tells me it was but not on the access roads. I told him it wasn't marked as an access road but he assured me it was still an access road. So I asked what road isn't an access road and he kinda got confused. Either way we were loading up and he got the power trip he was looking for to impress the girls and his friends who were loaded up in the back of the suv.

Talked to the owners again on the way out and they didn't really mind.

Long story because I'm bored tonight but cliff notes are:
-Park is okay for a day of easy trail riding. With a trail or two of tough stuff
-I don't think you could make two days of it.
-There's hardly anything marked for trails or speed limits, but they just opened up last fall..
-It is an active quarry during the week so they have scales they'll weigh you on if you're curious (I'm 5k lbs race ready)
-Pretty good people running the place (despite the little punk kid)
-There's a campground a couple miles away if you do try and make it two days
-There's a lot of hillbilly stockers there.... +1 for entertainment, -6 for safety

About time to work on this piece....

I've worked on other little stuff for the past couple weeks but this week it was time to tackle the rear link problem... Wanted to do a fabricated crossmember/link mount. Tossed around different design ideas and sketched one out...

Started cutting metal and needed a way to bend the 3/16 to give the drop I need at the center of the belly. Insert sweet auction find here... Finally a chance to use the press I picked up a couple months ago. Slapped together some angle iron to make a quick press brake, did a quick wiring job on the press, and you can see where I'm at after tonight... Looks like nothing really but it should fall together pretty quick after this piece...
