Hey all
Is anyone up for some Jeep fixing?
I think my water pump in my '98 Jeep Cherokee decided to die today. I drove to my girlfriends house and then all of a sudden coolant is gushing out from under my hood. Only indication that I knew something was wrong was a small puddle under my Jeep where I had parked on campus about an hour prior.
Ran some water through it, trying to figure out where its coming from and it looks like it is the water pump but I'm not positive.
My only thought is to take it to an auto shop because I don't have time to do the work myself.
If anyone is interested in getting paid for some hard work or has any recommendations of shops to visit, please get in touch.
Thanks much,
Dave

Probably coming out of the water pump weep hole. It's gonna need a new water pump, likely.

If I was still at Purdue I'd give you a hand. I'm sure someone or even a few people will be willing to spend an hour helping you out.

Hey David, give me a call at 219-616-7003. I can come over and help for a little bit this morning. It shouldn't be bad to replace the waterpump and thermostat.

Here David, study up on this and get a parts/supplies list together: jeepin.com/features/wa.../page2.asp

Gentlemen! Thank you very much for your help.
Unfortunately I headed home around 8 this morning and did not get this message until just now.
Because of my duties of being a Staff Resident combined with student teaching I literally have zero time to commit to anything outside of these two areas.
I really appreciate the offers, encouragement, and helpful websites and I am sure we will have many fun Jeep projects in the future. Currently my Jeep is over at Gilliland motors waiting for me to call them in the morning and let them know why it is in their parking lot. (I dropped it off this morning while they were closed). Because I need to have a vehicle for student teaching I am just going to have the garage do it.
If they try to charge me both of my arms and both of my legs I may just come crawling back here for help though!
Thanks again, keep you posted.
Dave

Sounds good. Let us know how it goes. I expect it to be reasonable, in the past Gilliland motors has treated us well. A few of us in the past have had them do various odd jobs (and i mean odd) and they were very accommodating and didn't charge too much.
